Surviving the Monsoons without an Umbrella

Know all the Life Insurance Benefits and its Variations
November 05, 2018
Preeti was the laughing stock of her office. The monsoons had hit the city, but the young woman simply refused to carry an umbrella or a raincoat. Of course, this meant that she showed up to office soaking wet at least twice a week. On one particularly stormy evening, it took her over 4 hours to get home. After walking through the torrential downpour, Preeti was unwell for almost a whole week! Her colleagues simply couldnt understand it.Why would you even try doing something so silly? questioned Radha, Preetis closest friend in the office. Despite the fact that Preeti and Radha were tight, the latter simply would not comprehend why her friend was willing to do something so risky.

Preetis boss, Mohan, was also thoroughly flummoxed. Not only was one of his best workers constantly missing work as she was under the weather, but even on days when she did show up, she be cold, unable to focus, and couldn take client meetings while her hair was dripping wet and her blazer was damp. As Preeti spent her week at home recovering with hot soup, her mother desperately tried to reason with her. Preeti, dont take such a risk. You know its the monsoons, just keep an umbrella with you  at least you wont be soaked from head to toe. But Preeti wouldnt listen. She was stubborn at the best of times, and she simply refused to take anybodys advice or buy herself an umbrella.

Now, Preetis story may be unusual, but walking around without any protection is far more common than you think. More often than not, we take everyday precautions and well prepare for each season as it comes. As summer arrives, well service our air conditioners, clean out our wardrobes, and adjust our diet to include fresh salads and light meals. As the clouds roll around and the monsoons begin, we invest in gum boots, umbrellas and raincoats, ensuring we have what we need to keep us safe and dry. As the days turn shorter and cold winds start to blow, we get out our sweaters and thick blankets, and while that helps us make it from one day to the next, we never think about protecting ourselves or preparing ourselves for lifes eventualities.

We dont think about what would happen if we were to meet with an accident that required extensive medical care. More often than not, we also fail to think about what would happen to our family members or spouses if we werent around to look after them anymore. The only thing that can financially protect us through whatever life throws our way is insurance.

By choosing a good health plan and life insurance policy, we can help look after our own health and the financial future of our loved ones. But insurance doesnt only help us when things go wrong. Certain insurance plans are always great ways for us to invest money into our own future. Retirement and investment plans allow us to build up a substantial corpus for ourselves, so that when we retire, we can still live independently and enjoy the comforts and luxuries we got used to while we were working. Certain insurance plans have been specially crafted to look after your children and ensure that they have all the help they need to make their dreams come true.

Insurance is the umbrella we need to get us through everyday life. Right from purchasing a health policy to taking care of our ever-growing medical bills and providing our loved ones with financial security during a time of grief, insurance is an absolute necessity today.
