1 Dematerialisation of Policy Documents

Dematerialisation or ‘Demat’ allows a policy holder to create a portfolio of insurance policies and store them in an electronic form with an insurance repository. It has been introduced by IRDAI as a similar facility to the one available for stocks. You can have only a single ‘e-Insurance Account’ (eIA) with an insurance repository of your choice. An eIA is inclusive of all life insurance policies of the Account holder.

2 Process for New Customers

While buying a new policy, you simply have to submit the eIA application form along with the new business application form. Please go through the guidelines before you fill the application form of the chosen insurance repository.

As per your discretion, you can opt for one among the repositories – CDSL IR (CDSL Insurance Repository Limited), NIR (National Insurance-policy Repository), KARVY and CAMS. For additional information on insurance repositories, you may check the following links:

 

Note: In case you wish to remat your policies i.e. change your policies back to the hard copy format, please submit an application stating the same at the nearest HDFC Life branch or Insurance Repository office.

3 Process for Existing Policy holders

If you’re an existing Policy holder and you do not have an eIA, you can write to us at [email protected] from your registered email ID.

In case you already have an eIA, you can write to us at [email protected] from your registered email ID mentioning your policy details and eIA number.

You can opt for any one of the following repositories: CDSL IR (CDSL Insurance Repository Limited), NIR (National Insurance-policy Repository), KARVY or CAMS.

Note: In case you wish to rematyour policies i.e. change your policies back to the physical document format, please submit an application stating the same at any HDFC Life branch
