Expanding Your Circle of Trust

Expanding Your Circle of Trust
November 05, 2018

It finally happened. Despite looking after your laptop for 7 long years, one day the battery simply died and nobody could fix it because the model is no longer in production. Buying a new electronic device is hard. There are so many options available in the market, it’s almost impossible to make the right decision. After almost a month of online research, you’ve finally narrowed down your options to 3 really good brands and models – but how do you pick the correct laptop?

Well, more often than not, you’ll ask your friends and family members for their opinion. Perhaps a close friend had a bad experience with the customer service centre of one of the brands you’ve shortlisted. A cousin might tell you about the secret benefits of another laptop you’ve got your eye on, making your final decision easier.

You’ll find yourself in a similar scenario when it comes to buying a number of products, including mobile phones, home appliances, and even cars. After several months of deliberation, test drives, demos and whispered conversations with those you trust, you’ll finally choose the brand and model that makes the most sense for you.

But hardly anybody does this when it comes to insurance, despite the fact that purchasing an insurance policy could possibly be the most important financial decision you make. Insurance is the one thing that can safeguard you and your loved ones in times of need – but it’s hardly ever spoken about openly. Instead, most individuals will purchase an insurance policy after minimal online research, simply because the premiums were low and the tax benefits were high. Unfortunately, this leaves us and our loved ones unprotected during difficult times. Whether you want to protect your own finances, safeguard the interests of your loved ones, or plan for a future goal, insurance can help you with all this and more.

So, if you’re looking to buy insurance. Where do you start? Just like any other product you hope to buy, there are a number of different insurance providers and insurance plans available in the market. Each with their own unique benefits and drawbacks. So how do you decide? Well, the same way you decided on which laptop you need to buy. First, do your own research online. Look up the insurance providers, study their products and understand the benefits of each. Weigh out the pros and cons of each and every plan before you decide to shortlist a few plans and providers.

Next, ask the people you trust. Whether they talk about it or not, your family members and friends are likely to have some experience with insurance. Ask them about their experiences, and whether a certain provider is better than the other, or whether a term plan makes sense for you or not. After you’ve sourced their opinions, re-evaluate your options. While a certain plan may have worked better for your friend, who is married with kids, you may want to pick a different plan as you may still be single and not have too many dependents. When it comes to insurance, one size doesn’t fit all, so you’ll need to make a choice based on your discretion. Once you’ve decided on the plan you want, you can easily make the payment online.

Congratulations, you’ve officially expanded your circle of trust, and added insurance as one of your closest allies. Now, you won’t have to worry about what lurks around every corner because insurance will have your back – no matter what!
