Know Everything About The Role of Insurance During Maternity

Know Everything about the role of Insurance during Maternity
December 04, 2018

Motherhood is said to be one of the best feeling and a precious stage in a woman’s life; however, parenting is never easy. Maternity brings in a bag full of responsibilities and high costs of hospitalizations and check ups along with happiness in your life. The high medical expenses involved in the process of maternity can be troublesome in the hour of happiness. The complications involved in pregnancy can take your medical expenses to the next level, making it more difficult for you to keep yourself away from financial stress.

Delivering your child in a good hospital with all the basic amenities can cost you a whopping amount ranging from 50,000/- to 1,00,000/- excluding the medical needs of the baby. The thought in itself is troublesome, isn’t it? In order to escape from the high medical expenses and enjoy the maternity period at peace, you must opt to buy a Maternity Insurance Plan.

Many people are not aware of the existence of a plan which will cover expenses related to child birth. If you are thinking that your regular health insurance can cover for your pregnancy expenses, you are wrong.

Your regular health insurance covers for the ailments you suffer from which does not include medical expenses during maternity, thus, buying a Maternity Insurance becomes very important. Although you may go ahead and add this insurance to your base health insurance plan by giving extra premium; maternity insurance will not only cover for your medical expenses, it will also cover for the related expenses of the new born- quite relieving, isn’t it?

Before you plan to invest in a maternity insurance plan, it is important for you to know what all will be covered.

Maternity insurance, in general provides cover for the below:

  1. 30 days pre-hospitalization and 60 days post-hospitalization expenses.

  2. Normal and C- section delivery expenses.

  3. Hospitalization expenses related to nursing, room rent, Operation Theatre charges, anesthetist fees, and doctor’s fees.

  4. Expenses related to medical treatment of a New born child.

  5. Day care treatment.

  6. Vaccination expense insurance for new born.

  7. Ambulance expenses for commuting the insured.

  8. Cashless treatment in network hospitals.

Insurance companies impose a waiting period, which generally varies from 9 to 36 months, therefore, it is always advisable to plan for such insurance at an early stage, may be at the time of your wedding.

Maternity is a great journey, make it hassle free by buying a maternity insurance.
